TRIO RICOCHET, Nobu Stowe (Piano), Tyler Goodwin (Double-Bass) and Alan Munshower (Drums), is dedicated to exploring ‘post-fusion’. So what is post-fusion? In short, it is the hybrid between the open-ended composition-based improvisation of post-bop (K.Jarrett/B.Evans) and the rhythm and energy of fusion (C.Corea/P.Metheny).
Yet, TRIO RICOCHET encompasses not only other modern jazz forms including world-fusion, free-jazz and ECM, but also different world music from Europe (classical), Brazil (bossa-nova), Japan, and Middle-East, etc. The music of TRIO RICOCHET is characterized by spontaneous improvisation, group interaction, high-energy dynamism
and lyrical melodicism. Since their public debut in September 2004, TRIO RICOCHET has already appeared at some of the top jazz-oriented venues in the East Cost, including Blue Note (NYC), The 55 Bar (NYC), The Knitting Factory (NYC), Kavehaz (NYC), Bohemian Caverns (DC), Twins Jazz (DC)
and An die Musik (Baltimore). TRIO RICOCHET has supported a diverse group of notable musicians including Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express, Mike Stern, Richard Bona, Tim Berne, Drew Gress, Tom Rainey, Valery Ponomarev, Leni Stern and Do Make Say Think. TRIO RICOCHET has granted a special commision from Hirshhorn Museum and the
Sculpture Garden of Smithonian Institute on “Visual-Music” which premiered on June 30th, 2005. TRIO RICOCHET has been invited by Kawai Pianos to tour Japan.
